ANASTASIA – the new stage musical inspired by the 1997 animated film, will officially open on Broadway April 24, 2017, at the Broadhurst Theatre. From the twilight of the Russian Empire to the euphoria of Paris in the 1920s, the new musical, Anastasia, is the romantic, adventure-filled story of a brave young woman attempting to discover the mystery of her past. The expanded stage production, featuring a score by Tony Award winners Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty, and an all-new book by Tony winner Terrence McNally, premiered earlier this spring at Hartford Stage. Tony Award winner Darko Tresnjak ( A Gentleman’s Guide to Love & Murder) directs Anastasia, which features choreography by Peggy Hickey.
